The receiver collar worn on your dog picks up the signal. When your dog ventures out of the ""safe zone"" he or she will hear a warning tone followed by a light, static energy pulse which startles the dog but is completely safe and humane. Your dog will eventually learn not to venture outside the ""safe zone,"" which can be set anywhere from a radius of a few feet, up to 90 feet. The radius is easily adjusted by a small knob on the transmitter.
